If you’ve ever wondered what car guards actually do when trouble strikes, one prankster has answered the age-old question after he decided to rob his own car…

South Africa (02 July 2024) — It’s a question many South Africans have wondered after we’ve entrusted our precious vehicles to a stranger in a neon vest: ‘What do car guards actually do if our cars are in danger?”

Putting the question to the test recently was one Tim Morrel—a prankster who made us all laugh in stitches earlier this year thanks to the ultra-viral Stellies Singing prank that amassed nearly 50 million views.

Tim decided to see what would happen if a criminal did attempt to steal his car in the safest way possible—by dressing up as a robber himself.

Of course, Tim didn’t know then how far some car guards would go to safeguard his vehicle. Needless to say, we’re sure he won’t be dressing up as a car guard’s nemesis again anytime soon.

Setting to task in slip slops and a ski mask (aka a balaclava), Tim attempted to rob his own car three times in three different settings.

While the first car guard might not have been the hero in illuminated armour many hoped he’d be, two other car guards at separate locations and times, valiantly made sure this robber would go running for the hills.

But, we won’t spoil all the fun. Take a look for yourself!

We might not always see what goes on behind the scenes after we’ve pulled up the hand brake and locked the doors, but if it’s anything like the video, car guards deserve a lot more than spare change!
