Outforia collated a list of 31 destinations where you can swim the way nature intended – South Africa is number seven.

 

South Africa (16 August 2021) – South Africa has been named the seventh-best destination in the world to swim in your birthday suit. This is according to a new poll by the adventure and outdoor destination website, Outforia.

South Africa offers 17 nudist-friendly beaches with average water temperatures of 20˚C. According to the study, conducted by Outforia, it also offers 25 naturist campsites.

Sandy Bay and Secrets Beach in Cape Town and Gqeberha respectively are probably one of the most well-known nudist-friendly beaches in South Africa.

South Africa received a skinny dipping score of 4.27 out of ten – the scale has 10 as a maximum score, as a denotation of exceptionally popular, accompanying 1 as its minimum.

France clinched the top spot, named the world’s best country for skinny dipping. The USA is in second place, but their nudist camps did reach the top position. Public nudity is only partially legal in three of the top ten countries.

“We studied countries around the world where public nudity is either legal or partially legal,” Outforia said. 

The top three skinny dipping countries are:

  1. France: It received a 7.04 out of ten rating.
  2. United States: It received a 6.95 rating.
  3. Spain: It received a 6.52 rating.
