The Kiffness never ceases to turn a moment into a musical journey. Recently, he ‘joined in’ on a French protest and turned a chant into a certified bop.

Global (3 April, 2023) — The Kiffness rarely shies away from cooking up an anthem. From turning cats and cockatiels into sensations to giving us all the infectiously positive ‘It’s A Beautiful Day’, and raising money for animals and people in need through his music activism, South Africans know that David Scott always understands the assignment.

Recently, The Kiffness joined in on a French protest. Not physically, but through a groove that we have no doubt will be everywhere soon for techno lovers (and activists) everywhere.

Sounds Like a Club, Feels Like Change

Of the inspiration, a troop of young protestors dubbed ‘techno activists’ recently took to the streets of Paris to protest pension reform, led by ‘MC danse pour le climat’ or MC dance for the climate’s Mathilde Caillard.

Caillard (25) often exchanges simple protest chants and posters for dance moves, using techno beats to carry her message.

“I use my body as a means to fight, as a tool to make political demands.” —Mathilde Caillard.

The recent protest was about the pension reform outrage, which soon went viral on social media largely thanks to Caillard’s moves.

And of course, The Kiffness brought a slice of it to South Africa with a remix — the ‘most French video’ he’s ever remixed at that. Working sunglasses that scream ‘paint me like a French man’, The Kiffness was in full character.

Have a listen!

The chant that will get stuck in your head “retraites, climat: même combat! Pas de retraités sur une planète brûlée,” translates to “pensions and climate are the same fight! No pensioners on a scorched planet,” explains Le Monde.

The pension protest plans to push back the pension age in France from 62 to 64.
