Whether you’re in Jozi or not, the Hollard Daredevil Run is bringing the fight against cancer to your town, and it’s time to run for a cause that saves lives.

Johannesburg, South Africa (11 October 2024) – You know the saying: ‘n boer maak ‘n plan. When South Africans are faced with a challenge, they find a way to make it work. And the same goes for showing up for a good cause – especially when it involves purple speedos and running for men’s health!

The Hollard Daredevil Run is returning on Friday, the 1st of November, at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg, but this year, it’s bigger than ever. This annual event has become a “ballsy” tradition, with men from all over South Africa slipping into purple speedos to raise awareness and funds for cancer – particularly prostate and testicular cancer.

But here’s the good news: if you’re not in Jozi on the 1st, you can still join the fun and be part of the movement.

The Hollard Daredevil Run is spreading its purple magic across the country, with events planned in cities like Durban, Cape Town, Kimberley, and Paarl. Even Dainfern (where I live!) is getting in on the action for those of us in Fourways who want to dodge the traffic but still run for a cause that matters.

The Daredevil Run isn’t just about having a laugh (although you might catch yourself chuckling at the sight of hundreds of men jogging in nothing but their brave purple undies!). It’s about saving lives. Early detection is key, and by participating, you’re helping raise awareness and also supporting those who need it most.

To find out if there’s a run happening in your area, check in with your local community groups. And if you can’t find one, here’s your chance to be a hero: create one! Then grab your ticket here, pop on that purple Speedo, and help us “run cancer out of town.”

Whether you’re in Jozi or any other corner of Mzansi, this year’s Daredevil Run promises to be an unforgettable event – filled with laughter, awareness, and plenty of heart.

So, let’s make a plan, South Africa! See you in your purple speedos!
