Trevor Heinrich has been an All-Blacks supporter for 50 years; he recently changed his colours to green and gold after seeing the unity the Springboks have created in South Africa.

South Africa (05 September 2024) – South African All-Blacks supporters picked up their jerseys during the years of Apartheid, choosing to support any team that wasn’t the Springboks. This form of protest to the nation’s political regime has stood the test of time, but times are changing! The Springboks today represent a different South Africa.

The Springboks today embody the rainbow nation. They inspire unity and breed the mentality of ‘Stronger Together’.

It was this unity that former All-Blacks supporter Trevor Heinrich started seeing at local games. South Africans from all walks of life were unified and united. It made him stop in his tracks and decide to make a change.

Trevor felt like it was finally time to be a South African, fully and wholeheartedly. He retired his All-Blacks kit and put on a Springbok jersey, embracing his country and looking forward to the future, heart filled with pride.

Trevor’s story has inspired a new slogan from the Boks… Forever Green, Forever Gold!
