“I need to bring my family back here” – Tim Cocker shares heartfelt words of praise about South Africa, our rugby culture and the beauty of our people.
South Africa (18 July 2024) – It has taken us a few days to get over the goosebumps we got watching Tim Cocker’s take on South Africa. The rugby commentator visited our beautiful home for the first time, to get a feel for Craven Week and to watch the Irish play the Springboks. He shared the video on the 15th of July and it has filled us with pride!
Usually Tim shares his take on rugby games but he broke the mould to share his thanks for the time spent in South Africa.
He said arriving at the passport control, he wasn’t expecting much but the passport controller gave him such a wholesome welcome to the country that he was left smiling. From there, every moment was a high.
He got to experience Bok Fridays for both games, met so many generous and kind South Africans, ate Bunny Chows, prime rib steaks and mouthwatering bone marrow. He drank his way through our local beers, brandy and coke (which he shares a firm warning for) and RnRs.
As for landscapes, his visit included a trip to the bush and ended on the coast. Tim shares that he has missed out on so much though and now has a bucket list filled with South African locations. He plans to visit them when he is back here in a month’s time.
We love his insights into our rugby culture and we, as a nation, are so proud to have hosted him. With nearly 90,000 views on the video, we have no doubt a few more rugby fans will be booking trips to South Africa too!
