A group of passionate young cyclists from diverse backgrounds forged strong bonds as they embarked on a challenging 700km journey from Johannesburg to Durban.

Johannesburg, South Africa (28 August 2024) – Imagine the thrill of exploring South Africa’s breathtaking landscapes by bike, sharing unforgettable adventures with a diverse group of colourful personalities. That’s precisely what the 2024 Cycalive Ride 2 Durban was all about.

Learners from Pace College, Moletsane High, Afrika Tikkun, and Torah Academy Boys High embarked on this exhilarating 700km cycling event from Johannesburg to Durban, celebrating South Africa’s rich cultural tapestry.

The ride began on 18 August, and the riders received a warm welcome from the KZN Jewry upon their arrival in Durban on Friday, 23 August.

The race, which brings together learners from different communities in a shared journey of discovery and achievement, underscores the importance of celebrating our diverse cultures, beliefs, and traditions, Afrika Tikkun shares.

According to Afrika Tikkun, the founder of Cycalive Ride 2 Durban and principal of Torah Academy, Rabbi Dovid Hazdan dreamed of a cycling adventure to Durban that everyone could join regardless of their background. With the help of other schools and sponsors, this dream became a reality.

The Cycalive Ride 2 Durban continues to be a beacon of unity and resilience, inspiring young South Africans to embrace their heritage and work together towards a brighter future.
