The City of Cape Town firefighters team’s impressive haul of 10 medals at the Toughest Firefighter Alive competition, including six gold, is a testament to their skills and excellence.
Mossel Bay, South Africa (06 October 2024) – Showing off their firefighting prowess and ability to maintain composure under extreme pressure were the City of Cape Town firefighters who excelled at the Toughest Firefighter Alive competition.
The local team of heroes have once again demonstrated their exceptional courage, skill, and dedication.
They performed exceptionally and achieved the major feat of bringing home 10 medals from the competition held in Mossel Bay last week. Among them, Baigum Abrahams, a true inspiration, retained her title as the top female firefighter in South Africa.
The strong team made up of seven women and 19 men from the Fire & Rescue Service garnered six gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
“Our firefighters have once again proven their metalby bringing home the medals. They are some of the toughest, bravest and most dedicated women and men in uniform, and we are exceptionally proud of them. Well done to the team,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
More than just professionals, the team’s bravery, selflessness and passion for what they do inspire us all.
