The Plus1 Festival is spreading love and supporting local artists in the process. Love is in the air…

The Plus1 Festival is an art and music festival. The concept of Plus1 was thought up to be like a wedding invitation, you purchase a ticket and take along a plus one.

Now the event insists that the plus1 doesn’t need to be a romantic interest, it can be your Bromance, Bff or even the whole squad.

Each ticket purchased is a pair so you only need to buy one ticket for two people. The festival is where Art marries Music. The Festival will run for 3 days at La Paris Estate in Franschhoek on Valentines weekend.

“Our new age festival invites you to experience a phenomenal line up of both International and Local Bands, DJs, Dancers, Performance Artists and Comedians, alongside a contemporary art exhibition with a variety of top South African artists’ works on display.”

The Festival is celebrating love and marriage, and you can get married while enjoying your favourite DJ.

Yes you read that right!

The festival will help you marry the love of your life or if you need, renew your vows. Plus1 even has a wedding planner who will make everything stress free.

The Festival is raising funds to start a foundation for local artists. They are raising the funds to help provide local artists with training, giving them entrepreneurial skills, to help the artists develop successful business models.

There will be festival staples such as international and local DJ’s and bands, food stalls and handcrafted goods.

The festival will boast a new concept of art gallery spaces, interactive art installations all over the grounds and host local artists who will be showcasing their interpretations of love. The art gallery will also host a silent auction.

“Proceeds will go to the artists and a fund developing art amongst talented youth”

The line up so far is really great, bands like Goodluck, Mi Casa and The Kiffness will be performing as well as Euphonic and DJ Lovebirds from Germany to name a few.

The festival supports homegrown talent and hopes that any up and coming artists or bands will contact them to showcase.

“We’re looking to create a fusion of Afro-euro music that will appeal to an eclectic audience. So if you are an up and coming talented musician or band Plus1 supports you and offers you a free platform to showcase your talent.”

Plus1 will have a variety of other activities as well, like starting the day with a rejuvenating yoga and meditation session or dance to a Secret Sunrise and ease into the day with a nature walk or dunk in the pool. VIP’s will be able to lounge on a tube in the local dam.
