The City of Cape Town has been voted one of the “Most Instagrammable” places in the world for the fifth year running and we are so proud!
Cape Town, South Africa (01 February 2023) – Cape Town has earned a spot on the “World’s Most Instagrammable” list for the fifth year in a row, this year, placing 22nd on the list.
The first time our Mother City made the list, was in 2019; at the time, the city earned 5th place. Every year since them, the city has bounced around, but always earning a place.
The reason Cape Town keeps earning a spot is because there are so many different places to go. You can take your heart-worthy photos at the top of Table Mountain or Lion’s Head. You can pose on the sandy white beaches or with a cocktail in hand at a trendy cafe; you can run through the vineywards and taste cheeses and wine. The options are endless!
The award is given by Big 7 Travel, which uses a comprehensive scoring system that analysed the number of hashtags and TikTok views per destination, sample survey results of Big 7 Media’s 1.5 million audiences, and from the global editorial team.
“Dramatic scenery, fantastic hiking trails and deserted beaches that boast spectacular ocean views. What more could you ask for? Cape Town is an Instagrammer’s dream location to visit: endless natural beauty and clifftop views, pastel pink neighbourhoods and turquoise waters.”
Cape Town gets loads of love from the world because of its international status but it isn’t the only good thing in South Africa. South Africa is also home to the Big 5, the Panorama Route and the Big Hole. While the website only featured images of Cape Town, South Africa has so much beauty to offer. Luckily, most people who venture to Cape Town, fall in love and always come back for more. This is when they learn about all the beauty the rest of the country has to offer.
Who doesn’t love a trip in the bush, watching our incredible wildlife, or standing on top of the world (kind of) when looking out over the Blyde River Canyon. Let us not forget our incredible cultural diversity and exciting new ways to encounter it.
