The “Good Things Guy” will be entrusted with the co-driver duties when Terence Marsh returns to action in the Red-Lined Nissan Navara on the Harrismith 400, round four of the South African Cross Country Auto Series (SACCS), on July 28 and 29.
After competing in the Taklimakan Rally in China, Marsh will be joined in the Red-Lined Nissan Navara by Good Things Guy founder, Brent Lindeque.
Lindeque was responsible for a global phenomenon that makes use of social media to put a good news spin on everyday affairs and problems. He believes individuals have the power to change everything, and has been recognised as one of Mail and Guardian’s Top 200 Young South Africans as well as a Primedia LeadSA Hero.
Apart from the Good Things Guy platform which has grown to over 1,8 million monthly readers since its inception 2 years ago, Lindeque also hosts a weekly vlog on YouTube bringing good news to a new content stream. He believes the world is hungry for good news and says “I always see the good in everything.”
“We are hoping Brent has some good news for us on the event,” said Marsh. “The Taklimakan Rally was a huge experience for the entire team, but now it is back to work in completely different circumstances and the Harrismith 400 will be another challenge.
“It is a new event on the calendar so Brent and the other co-drivers will start with a clean sheet.”
In preparation for the Harrismith event, Brent will work with experienced co-driver Gerhard Schutte, who sat alongside Marsh on the Chinese event. He will be given as much seat time as is possible in the Red-Lined Nissan Navara to familiarise himself with new surroundings.
Marsh and Lindeque will be competing in the FIA Class alongside the two Toyota Gazoo Racing SA Hilux entries of Leeroy Poulter/Rob Howie and Giniel de Villiers/Denis Murphy, and the Elf Renault Duster of Johan van Staden and the experienced Juan Mohr. Hennie de Klerk also joins the FIA fray in a VW Amarok with Adriaan Roets in the co-drivers seat.
New events on the calendar always ramp up interest and the Harrismith 400 on July 28 and 29, fourth round of the South African Cross Country Series (SACCS), will be no different.
Race headquarters, the start/finish and designated service park will all be situated at the Eeram Farmers Club near Harrismith with public access to these areas and spectator points along the route free of charge. A full programme of racing will include round four of the Northern Regions and KwaZulu-Natal regional championships, round five of the SACCS Moto championship and a Moto invitation race.
Cross country enthusiasts can follow the fortunes of their favourite teams at home or in the office on the RallySafe app, which can be downloaded free of charge, for iOS or Android systems. The app is user friendly and enthusiasts can follow the race via maps which chart the progress of each car with split and overall times and results.
