Jason Smith worked incredibly hard to get to the CrossFit Games to represent South Africa. He took part in eight Regional’s before making it to the games.
Jason Smith has been representing South Africa at the recent CrossFit Games. His hard work has paid off and he ranked at 11th in the world. This achievement is opening doors for other South Africans in the fitness industry, showing that nothing is impossible!
As a member of CrossFit Kyalami he has been working towards this moment for a long time. The Gym has been behind him and supporting every step he has taken.
“To finally make it and go through the experience is unbelievable.”
The CrossFit Games are incredibly taxing on a physical level, the biggest reason being that each event is only revealed a few minutes before they are set to participate.
“At least with Regional workouts, you can plan. We just got told 15 minutes ago we have to do thrusters and double-unders,” – Jason Smith
Thrusters and Double-Unders were announce as the final event of the games. The CrossFit Games Director Dave Castro often announces events in a very cryptic way.
All the challenges aside, Jason has made CrossFit South Africa proud and everyone that was following his journey have sent their congratulations to him via social media.
“Thank you Jason Smith for stirring the hearts of South African CrossFit athletes. That 11th place has ignited a newly found confidence, because you have proved that we have what it takes to compete against the very best in this field. It is with great excitement to say that our very own CrossFit legend has ranked as one of the fittest athletes in the world!” – Go Multi Magazine
