The Cluny Animal Trust in Clarens has been making up food parcels for the pets of people living in the local township, they hope to inspire others to join.
Clarens, South Africa (30 April 2020) – The economic state of South Africa has caused millions of people to go without food. Communities have become reliant on the delivery of donated food parcels and the one thing that has been missing is the food parcels for their animals.
If there are no funds for food, there are no funds for pet food in the townships. Having thought about this, the Cluny Animal Trust in Clarens, started making up food parcels for the pets.
“So what do you do on a Sunday during Level 5 Lockdown when you work in animal welfare…well if you are part of the Cluny team they are spending the day repackaging the mountain of food that we have been able to buy locally into 2.5kg bags ready for distribution tomorrow and Tuesday in Clarens and then in Fouriesburg on Wednesday and Thursday.
Lots of work to feed all of the animals that need it but the team is committed to getting the job done (working on the adult dog food, puppies and cat/kitten food also has to still be done!).
