TEARS Animal Rescue has a photo album on their Facebook Page showcasing all their foster fails from the lockdown, it will warm your heart!
Cape Town, South Africa (30 April 2020) – Foster Fails sound like a bad thing but they are not, they are the best way to fail at anything in this life! A foster fail is when someone offers to foster a rescue animal until a home is found but instead, the foster adopts the animal.
TEARS decided to evacuate their kennels and cattery when the lockdown was originally implemented. They were able to find foster homes for almost all their animals. It was the second time ever that their kennels were left empty.
The rescues were taken in by kind souls who wanted a little extra love during the lockdown and had space to open their homes to animals in need. TEARS now have a photo album of all the rescues that started out as fosters and have now become adopted pets.
“The very first Great Escape happened for nearly 2-weeks in 2015 during the Masi riots. Over 150 dogs were evacuated in 48 hours from the TEARS kennels into foster homes. There were an incredible 36 foster fails as a result. The announcement of the National Lockdown left us once again in a position of uncertainty. Again, we evacuated the TEARS kennels.
The Cattery also experienced a surge in adoptions before the beginning of the lockdown and several kitties went to into foster-to-adopt homes. What we believed to be a 3-week Lockdown has become 5-weeks and it seems that some form of Lockdown will persist for quite some time. During the Lockdown, TEARS has offered support to our foster families and we are so happy to announce that there have been quite a lot of foster fails!
From the Kennels, there have been 33 Adoptions, 13 Reserves and 27 Interests. From the Cattery, there have been 10 adoptions, 40 pending adoptions (foster fails) and many, many interests — too many to count!
Thank you to everyone for the support, the offers to take fosters, the donations and the loving messages that continue to pour in. Most of all, that you to foster families! We are so grateful for the gift of your home and hearts. To follow more of these foster’s journeys, be sure to join the Facebook Group: The Great Escape.”
