The Outreach Program (TOP) has been distributing pet food to communities struggling the most through the lockdown in the Western Cape.
Western Cape, South Africa (18 May 2020) – Many readers have asked what is being done for animals during the lockdown. Every animal welfare charity is working hard to support animals in need. We have shared several stories so far of charities feeding animals in need. All you need to do is look for your closest one and reach out.
Today we are featuring The Outreach Program (TOP). TOP is another organisation working to help families struggling to care for their pets during the lockdown.
They have been visiting communities, encouraging people to come collect a bag of food. This ensures that the pets have some food for a week or so. The focus has been specifically in communities were animals would have been left to starve due to increased unemployment.
TOP works to educate, sterilise and rescue animals. They are collecting food for both cats and dogs as well as puppies and kittens.
One person donated 200kgs of dog food which was an enormous help. TOP still need more cat and dog food to reach as many animals as possible. If you would like to assist them, you can pop them a message via Facebook here.
