Western Cape, South Africa (18 November 2021) – A 13-year-old self-taught pianist, known only as Joshua, has gone viral and inspired thousands who have watched the beautiful impromptu public performance.

The young man caught everyone’s attention while playing “River Flows in You” by Yiruma, but one shopper decided to film the moment to share it with the world, and this has led to the talented musician being offered a full music scholarship!!!

Schulla Pronk shared the video to her Facebook profile which has garnered thousands of views.

“Had to pop in quickly at Table Bay Mall on Thursday but was stopped dead in my tracks when I heard the sweet sounds coming from the Mall’s piano. This is Joshua. A self-taught 13-year-old. He’s never had a piano lesson in his life!! So gifted with so much talent! Sharing this video with his proud father’s permission, who was standing close by and clearly as mesmerized as we were. I have Emanuel’s number if anyone needs it.”

The video received many comments and inspired everyone who watched it.

“There’s nothing soothing for your soul… than music. May someone take this young man by the hand and guide him to continue his gift.” – Priscilla Swartz.

“Lovely piece of music. Well done, young lad. I pray that your talent leads you to much success.” – Carol Eagles Thomas.

“No words. I hope you go far with this talent Joshua. Thanks for sharing something so beautiful!” – Adina Feldman.

“Awesome. Just like my daughter. No training. Just good ear for music and passion to please. So wish she and other talented kids could take it further, but often money and lack of networks prevent them from succeeding. Never give up your dreams.” – Michelle van Niekerk.

And it looks like Joshua will be able to further his talents and reach his dreams, all thanks to Schulla sharing the video.

“Schulla, sent another DM with a principal willing to give a full scholarship.” – Melinda Schoeman.
