A Capetonian mom has promised to “pay it forward” after a random stranger paid for her breakfast bill.
Kerry Teare was having breakfast in Seapoint with her daughters when a random stranger paid for her bill and made her entire day, just that much better.
Teare had taken her three daughters to Knead Bakery when an elderly gentleman sitting at the table next to hers congratulated her on her very well behaved children. He said that he knows that this takes effort.
“This compliment made my day. Surely it’s what every mother wants to hear.”
The family carried on enjoying their breakfast and received excellent service from the waitron.
When I asked the waitress for the bill she told me that it had already been paid for by the elderly gentleman!!
“I couldn’t believe it, I was really overwhelmed by this complete strangers random act of kindness and generosity!”
Teare posted the story on a Cape Town restaurant community group in the hopes that the elderly gentleman might see it.
“I’ve been thinking that perhaps this lovely gentleman is a member of this group and happens to be reading this. If that’s the case I would just like to say a big Thank You!!! I will always remember your kindness and will be sure to pay it forward!”
And even though the gentleman hasn’t seen the post yet… the community have been so incredibly inspired by the random act of kindness.
Rochelda Adams posted: “In all the chaos that surrounds our everyday lives in this country…it is amazing to hear that there is still good out there… gives me hope.”
Mary Kane Swanson commented: “Wonderful gesture and good job on your well behaved children a rarity these days especially in a restaurant we’ve had many a meal spoilt by badly behaved children.”
Sarah Versfeld added: “Love this story! Pay it forward. We need more people like this out there.”
The same thing happened to me twice this week. Once in Wimpy Durbanville CBD and once in Clive’s garage in Durbanville
