The fans have spoken once again, only this time in James Blunt’s favour – He aimed to reach number one on the charts, and he failed! But boy, did he celebrate the moment!

Global (22 October 2024) – James Blunt had his very own jump-on-the-sofa moment this week in celebration of his album not hitting number one on the charts. You might be thinking, that doesn’t sound right, and you would be right! James was celebrating the failure because now he doesn’t need to legally change his name.

He has started a challenge to get his album ‘Back to Bedlam’ back on top of the charts, and if it hit #1, he would legally change his name to whatever the most popular suggestion is. The suggestion was to change his name to Blunty McBluntface.

The album, which includes fan favourites like ‘You’re Beautiful’, ‘Goodbye My Lover’, and ‘High’, was reproduced in honour of the anniversary. The goal is to get it to number one by the end of October.

Every artist hopes to have their album reach number one but in James’ case, he was absolutely relieved when the news broke that his album had failed to hit the mark.

Ackermans is bringing the joy again with their annual Baby of the Year competition, launching an irresistibly cute campaign that taps into “baby language” and celebrates the magic of parenthood, play, and connection!

While the AI interpretations are, of course, not real, it’s impossible not to laugh at how accurate some of the “responses” seem to be. You might even find yourself wondering if the babies truly had those thoughts in mind!

“In light of global conversations around the use of AI and creativity, and what it means for us humans, we set out to purposefully tackle this topic through this new content piece. We believe now more than ever we should celebrate connection and joy. Curro Hazeldean’s under-17 boys relay team stunned local supporters and the world at large by breaking the U18 World Record in the U18 4x100m relay.

Potchefstroom, South Africa (14 October 2024) – Curro Hazeldean may just be where track stars and the world’s fastest runners are nurtured and groomed!

The high school’s under-17 boys stunned the crowd at the NWU Top 30 Schools Athletic Series held in Potchefstroom by becoming the fastest U18 relay team in the world!

The athletes set a new World U18 Best record, clocking a time of 39.92s in the 4x100m relay. The previous best time of 39.95 was held by a USA team.

“It is unheard of that a school relay team can hold a World best relay time,” said Coach Thabo after the amazing performance.

Matodzi Ndou, Inam Dlunge, Adam Motloung, and Zattu Hlongwane’s names will be recorded in World Athletics history as the fastest U18 4×100m relay team ever!

The school is also home to the “fastest teenager on the planet”, Bayanda Walaza, who not only shone at the 2024 Olympics this year but also dominated the track at the Athletics U20 Championships in Peru in August, clinching gold in the Men’s 100m race.

Not only are these young men inspiring future generations of South African runners to reach for the stars, but they have also filled us with pride and elevated the country’s stature in the competitive world of track and field.

The album, which has fan favourites like ‘You’re Beautiful’, ‘Goodbye My Lover’ and ‘High’, has been reproduced in honour of the anniversary, and the goal is to get it to number one by the end of October.

Naturally, it can be found on all major streaming services, so if you are keen to get in on the fun – start listening right this moment, and very soon, James won’t be James anymore!

It really is clever marketing! So then… What is the new name?

Well, the votes are in, and the name everyone has chosen is “Blunty McBluntface”.

James Blunt has started a challenge for the world and in return, he will legally change his name – the funny musician has been making us all laugh out loud with his antics surrounding this challenge.

Global (09 October 2024) – James Blunt has a brilliantly dry sense of humour and while he is incredibly talented in the music department, he also has wit and constantly leaves people giggling.

He has started a challenge to get his album ‘Back to Bedlam’ back on top of the charts and if it hits #1, he will legally change his name to whatever the most popular suggestion is.

“Wanna ruin my life? If the 20th Anniversary Edition of my album “Back To Bedlam” re-enters the charts at number 1, I will legally change my name – to whatever you guys decide. Comment on this post below with suggestions for my name change, or like someone else’s comment to vote. The comment with the most likes on this post across my social media profiles on 11th October – when the album is released – wins. And then the race to number 1 begins!”

There have been some interesting names suggested, but personally, it’s James Beige for us. That one earned a hearty chuckle. Another goodie was Yerb Eautiful. James even put up a recommendation of his own… “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Pop Star Four Chord Song Machiney?”

Since sharing the challenge, he has been having fun on social media, sharing his famed dry humour in all sorts of funny ways.

Bouwer Bosch and Themba Robin are back with more hilarity, this time for a series of adverts with Payflex, and it took more than “phree” takes to get it right.

They have teamed up with Payflex to promote the new ‘Pay in 3’ campaign, but Bouwer really struggled to get his pronunciations right. The hilarious duo took their friendship to a new level, and it left us giggling!

To promote the launch of Pay in 3, Payflex worked with South Africa’s much-loved comedy duo to explain how Payflex Pay in 3 works.

Payflex is South Africa’s largest independent Buy Now Pay Later provider; it enables shoppers to get what they want now and pay later, interest and fee-free. With Pay Now, Pay in 4, and the newly launched Pay in 3, they have become SA’s most flexible payment provider.

To get the message out there, Payflex has shared a creative advert series that has South Africa laughing. From the first take to the last, Bouwer gave them all grey hairs. However, the outcome is beautiful!

Realising the struggles Bouwer was facing, Themba got creative for take two, drawing up a few ‘sub-titles’ to help advert viewers get the message.

Michael de Nobrega shared a brilliant video of a zipliner being refreshingly splashed by a huge wave in Mossel Bay.

South Africa (26 September 2024) – Michael de Nobrega is a huge supporter of Mossel Bay, highlighting the beauty of the small town through his love of videography and photography. As an avid outdoorsman he often captures beautiful moments, like the time he filmed rare whales named Snowflake and Snow White off the coast of Hartenbos.

Michael is passionate about photographing the ocean life that can be found near Hartenbos, Mossel Bay. From stunning whales to bright pink flamingos and even injured birdlife, which Michael has shared to raise awareness about the plight of waste on our beaches.

While his love of birdlife is evident, he also enjoys highlighting what people can do while visiting the small town. One of the highlights is a zipline that runs over the ocean.

On a particularly gusty day, someone enjoying the zipline got more than they bargained for when a huge wave hit the rocks below and splashed up over the zipliner as they went past. Michael managed to capture the moment on camera.

And, just recently, a young South African artist in New York has taken the world by storm with her voice, proving once again that our nation produces some of the most remarkable talent on the planet.

Guitaro5000 is a street musician in New York who has gained quite a reputation for his impromptu performances with random strangers. Armed with his guitar, he sets up on busy sidewalks, inviting passersby to join him in singing. His vibe is simple—music brings people together, and he’s all about sharing that energy with the world. His YouTube channel has become a go-to spot for feel-good content, showcasing everyday people turning into stars for a moment.

Phathiswa Magangane is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter from Springs, Johannesburg, now residing in New York. After graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Cape Town, she followed her passion to the States.

A few months ago, she found herself standing next to Guitaro5000 in the streets of New York, ready to share her voice with a crowd of curious onlookers.

Phathiswa and Guitaro5000 joined forces to perform two songs that would soon go viral. Donovan himself was thrilled to be part of the project, saying, “I loved the script because it comprises these beautiful moments of our girl-dad immersing himself in his daughter’s imaginative play.”

“From tea parties with KK to chilling out watching content on the couch, we pushed the humour of the environments in which we saw the pool cleaner, in order to lean into the metaphor that Kreepy Krauly is a literal part of the South African family,” Goliath added.

And it’s true – the Kreepy Krauly has long been a fixture in many South African homes, and this commercial beautifully encapsulates that relationship.

One of the standout moments in the video – and Goliath’s personal favourite – is the quintessentially South African scene of him braaiing with KK, who hilariously holds a pair of tongs, cooking wors alongside Donovan.

“It’s a quintessential South African moment and it signals the build-up to Dezemba, the greatest time on the SA calendar,” Goliath said, perfectly summing up the festive vibes the video captures.

With over 1.8 million views in just a weekend, it’s clear that this creative collaboration has been a massive hit. Not only does it bring joy and laughter, but it also shines a light on the local talent and products that make South Africa so special.
