Two years ago, Simba and Mir got a second chance at freedom and a rewarding life after being rescued from the devastating conflicts in Ukraine. They have since found refuge at Warriors of Wildlife’s Simbonga Sanctuary and are thriving as the kings of the jungle they were always meant to be!
Jeffreys Bay, South Africa (07 October 2024) – Last week marked a special milestone of two years since Simba and Mir, two lions rescued from the horrors of war-torn Ukraine, arrived at the Warriors of Wildlife Simbonga Sanctuary.
Their transformation from frightened cubs into the majestic, healthy kings they are today is a testament to the resilience of these incredible creatures and the healing power of South Africa.
While they have found peace here, countless other wild animals and people are still suffering in Ukraine.
The zoo where Simba once lived has been completely destroyed. This stark reminder of the ongoing devastation makes Simba and Mir’s survival all the more poignant.
According to Warriors of Wildlife, over the past two years, these two incredible lions have not only grown in strength and confidence but have found safety and a true home.
“Their playful roars echo through the sanctuary, and their bond with each other is as strong as ever.
This transformation would not have been possible without the incredible support from YOU – our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and adopters. Because of your generosity and belief in our mission, Simba and Mir now thrive in an environment where they are safe, cherished, and cared for,” Warriors of Wildlife said.
