Wimpy has just launched a R19.90 “cappu-cci-no” special with a creative beatboxing stunt to warm up South Africans during the cold snap.

South Africa (30 August 2024) – South Africans have developed a deep love for coffee over the past decade, creating a vibrant coffee culture that has made its mark across the nation. Whether it’s a flat white with friends, a quick espresso shot to power through the day, or a soothing cappuccino to warm the hands on a chilly morning, the nation’s coffee lovers know how to savour each sip.

However, enjoying a good cup of coffee can sometimes come at a price, with cappuccinos in South Africa ranging anywhere from R20 to R60 (sometimes more), depending on where you find yourself.

But just as the cold snap sweeps across the country once again, Wimpy has decided to warm things up a bit – not just with hot coffee but also with hot deals! The iconic South African restaurant chain has launched a special that’s sure to put a smile on many faces: a delicious, frothy “cappu-cci-no” for just R19.90.

To kick off this incredible special, Wimpy pulled off a stunt at the Mall of Africa in Johannesburg that left customers smiling. As patrons settled into their seats and placed their orders, they were in for a treat far beyond their favourite cup of joe. Waitrons at the restaurant took note of each customer’s favourite song requests, but instead of playing the tunes over a speaker, Wimpy had something much more creative in store.

The humble coffee machine was transformed into a DJ booth but with a twist!

Three of South Africa’s most talented beatboxers – Morgan Beatbox, Remix, and Thato Titisi – took the stage.

Jodi Law, Wimpy South Africa’s brand manager, explained, “Morgan Beatbox, Remix, and Thato Titisi all turned heads as they spilt the beans on our Cappu-cci-no special and dropped the beats of some of South Africa’s favourite hits while we prepared our customers short caps.”

The result? A spectacle where the familiar sounds of a coffee machine blended seamlessly with the rhythmic beats and melodies produced by these mouth-melodists, creating a unique audio experience that was both entertaining and a brilliant promotion for their new offering.

In times when the cost of living seems to rise daily, a warm cappuccino for just R19.90 brings more than just comfort – it offers a moment of pure joy.

Law concludes, “There’s always one last cold front in Mzansi before we can pack away the winter woolies for Summer, so we’re dropping this special like it’s hot, to keep you warm and gear you up for good times, as we head closer to the heat of Dezemba and the Festive Season!”

Wimpy’s latest move is a delightful blend of community spirit, creative marketing, and a genuine understanding of what brings people together – a good cup of coffee… or as they would call it, an affordable cappu-cci-no!
