Forbes selected the World’s Best Home Insurers, and five South African companies were named; 1st for Women was ranked the best in SA!
South Africa (XX August 2024) – South Africa is having a serious moment in the sun these days, from sporting stars earning world titles to the business world earning top spots, too! Five South African insurance companies made it onto Forbes annual list of the World’s Best Home Insurance Companies, with 1st for Women Insurance rated as South Africa’s best home insurance company.
To determine the list, Forbes and market research company Statista surveyed over 45,000 people across 15 countries. Participants who have had insurance within the past three years were asked how satisfied they were with their insurer and if they would recommend it to others. Participants were also asked to rate insurers based on criteria including customer service, price performance, transparency and claims process satisfaction.
Of this rating and list, five South African companies were recognised. They include:
- 1st for Women
- Momentum
- Budget Insurance
- Liberty
- OUTsurance
“We are so honoured to receive this global recognition. It acknowledges the hard work we have been doing to put our customers 1st,” said Seugnette van Wyngaard, Head of 1st for Women Insurance.
With heavy rains, floods, high winds and even tornados wreaking havoc across many parts of South Africa, home insurance is no longer an option, but a non-negotiable.
“There has been a notable upward shift in climate-related insurance claims and homes have been hit the hardest,” says van Wyngaard. “1st for Women offers cover for a range of home perils including fires, storms, floods and lightning, theft and even food that spoils in your fridge and freezer during a power failure.”
‘1st for Women’ knows how important the little things are, too, so as part of its Comprehensive Home Contents Insurance, it provides coverage for your pets if they are injured in a road accident and handbag cover, too. The cherry-on-top is 1st for Women’s Guardian Angel Lifestyle Assistance, which gives its customers access to a database of professional electricians, plumbers, locksmiths, and glaziers for home emergency assistance.
“Being ranked among the best of the best in the insurance industry demonstrates our commitment to the women of South Africa which began 20-years ago. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful to our customers for their continued support,” says Wyngaard.
