Tammy, from the phenomenal travel blog ‘Sunshine Simplicities’, met Rozanne and Heleen, the volunteer stewards of the ‘Map of Africa’.
Wilderness, South Africa (05 June 2024) – “Sunshine Simplicities”, a Port Elizabeth blogger, is on a road trip with her daughter, sharing all the beautiful things they find along the way. Recently while in Wilderness, Western Cape, the mother-daughter duo stopped at the ‘Map of Africa’ a beautiful valley and river that is a similar outline to the African continent.
Tammy, the talented writer behind the successful Facebook page and blog, collected her daughter from the airport. After a very happy reunion, they set off on a road trip adventure. One of the stops they made was to the ‘Map of Africa’.
Tammy shared the story of Rozanne and Heleen, who have voluntarily looked after the area for nearly 14 years now. She got to meet Rozanne, sadly Heleen wasn’t there on the day.
“For 14 years, Rozanne and Heleen have voluntarily maintained this lookout point. A marvel of nature. They recently even paved the little area to make it easier for tourists when it has been rainy. Every day, with the exception of inclement weather creeping in, you will find Rozanne here.
The self-appointed tour guide will give you an interesting 10-minute recap on the area and everything you are looking at. It’s quite astounding—stuff you won’t read about anywhere.”
“Rozanne also takes care of Map Cat… one of those allusive cats who has made this spot his home. Even after he was taken by somebody (surely well-intentioned), he returned on his own steam a few months later.
Rozanne will also tell you where to get the best pics of the incredible Wilderness coastline from what is definitely the best spot ever. Hint: if it’s good enough for paragliders… it’s good enough for Sunshine🌞
Folks… do this little drive and be sure to take along some cash to support these two wonderful ladies and this fantastic initiative. We need more people like Rozanne and Heleen. They provide a valuable service to tourists and at the same time are ensuring that the site remains maintained and accessible for all to enjoy. Of course you don’t have to give a donation… but that would just make you a grumpy black cloud in Sunshine Land.
Did I mention that they care for Map Cat…Thank you Rozanne and Heleen. You rock”
