Ultra-Trail Ryan Sandes

Ryan Sandes is a phenomenal South African Ultra-Trail runner! He has just had a historic win at the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run in California!

 

Ryan Sandes is South Africa’s ultimate ultra-trail runner! He holds quite a few titles! He was the first person to win all 4 races in the 4 Desert Series. He was also the first person to ever win an ultra trail race on all 7 continents!

His achievements are outstanding! Ryan has been voted a South African running hero a total of 5 times over the last few years! He really is an inspiration to all South African runners.

The latest victory for Ryan was the win of the 2017 Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run in California over the weekend. He finished the race in 16 hours 19 minutes and 38 seconds, crossing the finish line with the South African flag in hand!

Ryan has run the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run a total of 5 times and this was his first win! He came second in the grueling trail race in 2012.

He is such a great sportsman that he made sure to be at the finish line at the 30 hour cut off to support the last runner and see them cross the finish line.
