Still soaking in the exhilaration of his latest achievement, Eben Etzebeth took a moment to share a heartfelt message of thanks to Mzansi and his supporters, expressing his deep appreciation for the opportunities and experiences he has had as a Springbok.

Mbombela, South Africa (02 October 2024) – Eben Etzebeth’s journey from a young fan to a record-breaking player has been a testament to his dedication, talent, and unwavering commitment to his country.

After being announced as the most capped Springbok player of all time, Etzebeth could not thank South Africa and his supporters enough for their part in his successes.

Penning an emotional message on his Instagram, the Springbok Lock admitted that it was difficult to express the magnitude of his gratitude in a simple post.

He thanked all his teammates past, present and future, noting that for him, rugby would always be the greatest team sport.

Etzebeth touched on the significance of team spirit and thanked all Springbok coaches, management and selectors for selecting him throughout his career. He made a special mention to coaches Heyneke Meyer, Allister Coetzee, Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber.

And, of course, to his country, always eager to back the Bokke:

“Thank you to YOU SOUTH AFRICA. We live in the best country in the world with the best supporters in the world. It’s the greatest honour to represent this country. As a kid, I was the biggest Springbok fan and to now play for this team is unreal.”

Acknowledging those who have been with him from the very beginning, Etzebeth thanked his family for their never-ending support.

“And my beautiful wife @anliastar for making everyday and occasion special, especially this past weekend. Jys die beste,” a thankful Etzebeth wrote.
